Morris Plains, N.J., May 11, 2023 — Rose House, a nonprofit organization that creates homes for people with developmental disabilities, has received huge support from local businesses through volunteer work. Both Golden Wolf and FatRabbit met Rose House through the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, which has helped to strengthen their relationships while helping adults in the community with developmental disabilities. Golden Wolf Landscape & Design, LLC, Long Valley, New Jersey, donated $2,400 worth of its services. Volunteers cleared leaves and removed small trees that leaned on a fence at Rose House’s newest group home in Morris Plains that is expected to open in May 2023.
FatRabbit Creative, Chester, New Jersey, fixed up the organization’s Hanover Apartments for independent living residents. The team reinforced and stained the garden boxes, added new netting and planted flowers and vegetables. “Both volunteer projects were completely unexpected and tremendously appreciated,” said Rose House CEO Tom Mitchell. “We didn’t ask them for help. The businesses selflessly reached out and asked what they could do for our clients with special needs. It just so happened that our new group home needed cleaning up before the opening, and it was the perfect time of year to have our gardens restored at the apartments.” The volunteer relationship between Rose House and Golden Wolf began when the landscaping company volunteered to remove a 20-foot oak tree at a Budd Lake group home to make way for a wheelchair ramp. “After the first volunteer job, we realized this is a special organization that we wanted to continue supporting,” said Golden Wolf President Marcus Celiano. “It was a win-win because they were grateful for our services and it’s a rewarding experience to help community members with developmental disabilities.” For FatRabbit Principal Owner Heather Reddy, her rewarding experience hit home in a personal way. “As a parent of kids with special needs, I know first-hand how important it is to help organizations like Rose House,” said FatRabbit Principal Owner Heather Reddy. “We loved seeing how the independent residents have purposeful lives in the community when we visited. It was a fun day out of the office and we’re happy to know that the residents can enjoy watering and harvesting the vegetables.” ### Rose House, a non-profit organization headquartered in Morris Plains, New Jersey, creates forever homes that make dreams come true for those with special needs throughout Morris County.
