CHICAGO, Aug 30, 2020 – The only thing constant is change and at United Airlines, some of the fees associated with changes related to flying are gone for good. The carrier announced today that it is permanently getting rid of change fees on all standard Economy and Premium cabin tickets for travel within the U.S., effective immediately. And starting on January 1, 2021, any United customer can fly standby for free on a flight departing the day of their travel regardless of the type of ticket or class of service, a first among U.S. carriers, while MileagePlus Premier members can confirm a seat on a different flight on the same day with the same departure and arrival cities as their original ticket if a seat in the same ticket fare class is available.
Menendez, Booker, Pascrell, Sires, Payne, Malinowski, Sherrill Applaud $248M in Portal Bridge Funding
NEWARK, N.J. – U.S. Senators Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), the ranking member of the Senate’s transit subcommittee that oversees the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Capital Investment Grants (CIG) program, and Cory Booker (D-N.J.), along with U.S. Representatives Bill Pascrell, Jr. (N.J.-09), Albio Sires (N.J.-08), Donald Payne, Jr. (N.J.-10), Tom Malinowski (N.J.-07), and Mikie Sherrill (N.J.-11), today applauded the allocation of $248 million for the Portal Bridge replacement project. This federal funding comes from additional appropriations the congressional delegation successfully fought to provide the CIG program in FY18 and FY19—precisely for its future use to advance the Gateway Project—over the objections of the Trump Administration.
MORRIS-SUSSEX-WARREN WORKFORCE BOARD OFFERING COVID-19 REMOTE SUPPORT SERVICES FOR COUNTY BUSINESSES
Morristown, N.J. - Live performance ended abruptly in March as the coronavirus spread around the world, putting musicians out of work and audiences out of concert halls. Artists have taken to the internet, sending out livestreams, prerecorded streams, streams from the archives — almost all with the implied caveat that nothing beats the real thing, the real sound.
That sound is slowly, cautiously re-emerging. On Thursday evening, two of our classical music critics, Joshua Barone and Zachary Woolfe, did what they used to do several times a week: They went to a concert. The JACK Quartet was appearing as part of the modest Lot of Strings Festival in the parking lot of the Morris Museum here — the series continues Aug. 27 and Sept. 3 — and the critics chatted the next morning about how an everyday experience had become something precious.
Florham Park N.J. – August 23, 2020 – A new website allowing employers to post job openings and business profiles, and prospective workers to search for compatible open positions, has been introduced by the Morris County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC), a division of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, with support from the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders, in coordination with the Morris/Sussex/Warren Workforce Development Board. The website – connecttomorris.com – is intended to be a hyper-local resource where businesses in the community can post job opportunities and a company profile, including a video showing prospective employees why the business is a great place to work, according to Meghan Hunscher, president of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce.
