Meghan Hunscher currently serves as the President and CEO of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, a 501(c)6 membership organization, and a premiere regional membership business association in north central New Jersey representing over 750 organizations and thousands of their employees. The Chamber supports business growth and attraction through their Economic Development Corporation division, and partners with the Morris County Tourism Bureau to promote Morris County's businesses and community. Together the MCCC, MCEDC and MCTB represent over 900 member organizations.
As President of the Chamber, Meghan manages a staff of full and part time employees and numerous volunteers. She also oversees the operations of the Morris County Economic Development Corporation, which is a division of the Chamber and public / private partnership between the Morris County Board of County Commissioners, the Morris County Chamber of Commerce and the business community. In addition to the MCEDC, programs and initiatives of the Chamber include Leadership Morris, Women in Business and the Public Policy Series. She reports to a Board of Directors that represent small, mid and large companies within the county and region. The Chamber provides value to members through networking at signature events; professional development seminars and workshops; development and enhancement of leadership skills; opportunities to connect with elected officials; opportunities to gain insights from C-suite level professionals through programs and events; and increased brand awareness speaking, sponsorship and marketing opportunities. The Chamber also has over ten roundtables, forums, councils and masterminds that meet monthly. Through the Chamber’s economic development division, Meghan oversees the business outreach program that connects business with resources to support business retention and expansion in the county. She actively develops partnerships with other non-profits and government entities including the New Jersey Business Action Center and ChooseNJ. She leads strategic planning initiatives with the MCEDC Advisory Board and subcommittees including identifying and marketing the County’s assets and overseeing a grant program. The MCEDC also hosts various events throughout the year including an Annual Partnership in Economic Development Awards ceremony, a Business Growth and Innovation forum and municipal councils to foster dialogue between municipalities and the business community. Prior to joining the Chamber and MCEDC, Meghan served as the Principal Planner for the Township of Montville (Morris County) overseeing the Planning and Zoning Department. Prior to that she served as a project manager and land use planning consultant and expert witness for both municipal and private clients in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Meghan has served as a member of her local Planning Board and also serves as the President of the New Jersey Association of Planning and Zoning Administrators, a statewide association with more than 300 members. She currently serves on a number of non-profit boards including the Morristown Medical Center (Atlantic Health System) Community Advisory Board, the Morris County Tourism Bureau, the United Way of Northern New Jersey, and the Corporate Leadership Council for the Cornerstone Family Programs & Morristown Neighborhood House, and is a member of Impact100 Garden State. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pennsylvania and also obtained a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning with a concentration in Economic Development from Penn in 2002. She is lifelong resident of New Jersey, where she and her husband are proud to raise their three children. |
