Lead Morris teaches business professionals about the opportunities, the challenges, the institutions and the people of Morris County. The program is designed for recognized leaders and for those professionals identified for future leadership responsibilities, whose business acumen and community consciousness will make a difference in Morris County.
Community Education - Each month the class is immersed in a different content area to learn about the issues and meet the “players” in decision making positions. Sessions are held “in the field” throughout Morris County, giving class members first-hand exposure to the subject matter and broadening their understanding of the geographic, economic and cultural diversity of the area. Participants are introduced to the people who are making things happen, and themselves join the network of those individuals who will shape the future of Morris County. Professional Development - In addition to the issue of education, participants are provided with opportunities to polish skills in public speaking, collaborative teamwork, and leadership development. Lead Morris is an ideal program for business executives and leaders new to the area who will have an opportunity to learn more about the community and how Morris County differentiates itself as a place to live, work, play and serve the community. Community Trusteeship - Class members are exposed to the contribution of nonprofit service organizations in Morris County and gain important insights into the responsibilities and rewards of community board service. Graduates are encouraged to pursue service in elected, appointed and volunteer roles. Business Networking - Over the course of the year, participants make strong connections with their classmates – other business professionals in the Morris County area. The networking benefits of the Lead Morris experience extend far beyond the program year, as graduates take advantage of membership in the Lead Morris Alumni Association. Approximately 30 individuals are selected to comprise each Leadership Morris Class each year. Candidates must:
