HHS Announces Second Round of High Impact COVID-19 Area Funding
July 24, 2020 - Washington, DC - Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) announced that three hospitals in NJ-11 will receive $29.75 million in a second round of funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that Congress passed in April. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will distribute a total of $10 billion in funding to hospitals across the country through the Provider Relief Fund starting this week.
“Our hospitals have moved heaven and earth to care for the residents of this community during the pandemic,” said Representative Sherrill. “I’ve fought to ensure our frontline healthcare workers have the resources they need to keep themselves safe and our hospitals whole. This second round of CARES Act funding for Saint Barnabas, Morristown Medical, and Chilton reflects the work of the New Jersey delegation to ensure that hospitals who had the highest number of COVID cases received the largest portion of funding.”
“Our physicians, nurses and caregivers appreciate the outpouring of support from our communities and recognition of much needed financial assistance by Rep. Mikie Sherrill and our entire Congressional delegation,” said Brian Gragnolati, President and CEO of Atlantic Health. “The essential aid these leaders have secured will ensure that our health care heroes have the resources they need to continue to safely fight COVID-19.”
“RWJBarnabas Health greatly appreciates the efforts of our congressional delegation, including Congresswoman Sherrill, in obtaining significant support for our healthcare system and recognizing the massive financial impact of COVID-19 on all of our hospitals,” said Barry H. Ostrowsky, President and Chief Executive Officer, RWJBarnabas Health.
The hospitals in NJ-11 include:
