Three Hospitals in NJ-11 will Receive $29.75 Million in CARES Act Funding

HHS Announces Second Round of High Impact COVID-19 Area Funding
July 24, 2020 - Washington, DC - Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) announced that three hospitals in NJ-11 will receive $29.75 million in a second round of funding from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that Congress passed in April. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will distribute a total of $10 billion in funding to hospitals across the country through the Provider Relief Fund starting this week.

“Our hospitals have moved heaven and earth to care for the residents of this community during the pandemic,” said Representative Sherrill. “I’ve fought to ensure our frontline healthcare workers have the resources they need to keep themselves safe and our hospitals whole. This second round of CARES Act funding for Saint Barnabas, Morristown Medical, and Chilton reflects the work of the New Jersey delegation to ensure that hospitals who had the highest number of COVID cases received the largest portion of funding.”

The hospitals in NJ-11 include:

• Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston: $12,940,348
• Morristown Medical Center, Morristown: $13,980,341
• Chilton Medical Center, Pompton Plains: $2,831,662

Hospitals that service NJ-11 residents including Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson, and Overlook Medical Center in Summit were also awarded funding.  In May, New Jersey hospitals received $1.7 billion in the first round of high impact COVID-19 area funding from the CARES Act.
