Mimi Washington Starrett Foundation announces inaugural grant application!

The Mimi Washington Starrett Foundation is proud to announce the inaugural grant cycle! Grant applications will be accepted soon! (March 1, 2022 – April 15, 2022) The Mimi Washington Starrett Foundation’s mission is to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that have a meaningful impact on the well-being and economic development of the greater community, including those that address issues surrounding health, addiction, and homelessness; animal welfare; equal education opportunities; access to the arts; and environmental and historical preservation. ​

Grant applications will be accepted from March 1, 2022 to April 15, 2022. Consideration will be given to nonprofit organizations of various sizes serving the greater Morris County, NJ area whose mission and goals align with those of the Foundation. A range of grants will be awarded in October 2022 to facilitate opportunities for such organizations to achieve their goals.

Guided by Mimi and Cliff Starrett’s lifetime of philanthropy and shared vision to have a lasting impact on the community, the idea of creating a private foundation began many years ago. It is because of their foresight, planning, and generosity that the Mimi Washington Starrett Foundation has come to fruition. Mimi and Cliff devoted passion, time and resources to support diverse causes in the greater Morris County community. The Foundation is proud to continue to share their values and vision for generations to come. We are dedicated to learning about the needs within community so that we may offer partnership and support in the place Mimi and Cliff called home.

The Mimi Washington Starrett Foundation’s discretionary grantmaking is informed by the following criteria in alignment with our mission.

• Grants which benefit the greater Morris County area
• Solicited or unsolicited grants
• Grants supporting specified projects and/or general operating expenses
• 1-year or multi-year grants

• Animal Welfare - Care and prevention of cruelty to pets, service and food animals
• The Arts - Accessible and inclusive access to performing and visual arts, art education and instructional opportunities
• Community - Local economic development and progress
• Conservation and Preservation - Land conservation
• Environmental and Historical preservation
• Education - Individual or programmatic educational opportunities to or through schools
• Health - Mental and physical health/wellness
• Addiction
• Homelessness
