Morris County, NJ – You decide that you want to volunteer or do community service. Perhaps this is the time in your life that you have chosen to give back to others, or to a local community organization. How do you find a nonprofit you want to give your time and talent to? How do you know what type of organization aligns with your vision, your compassion, your skill set? The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA is ready to help! On Wednesday, November 16 from 6:30-8:00pm the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA is hosting its second “Volunteer Match Night”. An enormous success the first time in 2019, the Y is bringing this fun event back to the community. This is your opportunity to meet nonprofit organizations and discuss with their staff the potential to give back. Alex Martinez, President and CEO of the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA, states, “If you want to help or support a community-based organization that is need of assistance, the Y can provide the needed guidance to bring individuals and families together with organizations that are there to do good.”
If you love pets, you might be interested in volunteering for an animal shelter. If your passion is sustainability and ecology, you might volunteer for an environmental organization. Perhaps your goal is to decrease poverty or food insecurity. There are numerous local and regional nonprofits desperate for help so they, in turn, may help others. For any organization that wishes to participate at Volunteer Match Night, the event is free, and all nonprofits are welcome regardless of their location. Any individual or family who wants to attend the event are asked to please register in advance, although walk-ins are welcome. The last time the Lakeland Hills Family YMCA presented this event there was an overflow crowd. This year the event will be held in the Y’s full-size gymnasium, increasing the number of nonprofits who may participate, and affording social distancing to those who attend. Nonprofit participation may be facilitated by emailing or calling Robb Elko at [email protected] or 973.507.7038. Those wishing to attend the event may register online: Program Registration | YMCA Counter (lakelandhillsymca.com). The Lakeland Hills Family YMCA is located at 100 Fanny Road, on the border of Mountain Lakes, Parsippany, and Boonton, near Routes 287 and 202. The Y has been a leader in the local community for over 100 years, and focuses on healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility. For information on membership or programs, please contact Rosemary Linder Day, Director of Marketing and Membership, at [email protected] or call 973.507.7035. Check the Y’s website: www.lakelandhillsymca.com, as community events are held on a regular basis. As always, no other organization can impact as many, as powerfully, as the Y does every day. ### About the Y Driven by its founding mission, the Y has served as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community for more than 175 years.
