If infection is not treated early on, the bacteria will destroy the supported structures of your teeth, which can lead to tooth loss. The complications do not stop there. The bacteria responsible for infection can enter your bloodstream. As it circulates throughout your body, it can lead to several issues, like heart disease, respiratory infections and even Alzheimer’s disease.
What are the Signs of Gum Disease?
How is Gum Disease Treated? Your dentist will recommend a procedure called scaling and root planing. Your dentist or dental hygienist will use special dental instruments to remove the bacteria from around the teeth and gums. Once the bacteria is removed, the gum tissue will be able to heal properly. You may need more frequent cleanings to monitor your gum health. That is why its so important to make sure you are doing the basics. Brush and floss your teeth everyday. Having your teeth for a lifetime should not be difficult.
