Atlantic Health System Opens Newly Renovated Gagnon Institute of Bioskills Training and Innovation Atlantic Health System recently celebrated the opening of the newly renovated Gagnon Institute of Bioskills Training and Innovation at 95 Madison Avenue, Morristown. The highly advanced simulation center provides healthcare professionals and students exceptional ‘real world’ practical learning experiences that bring medical education and theory to life. Conveniently located across the street from Morristown Medical Center, the Gagnon Institute of Bioskills Training and Innovation (GBTI) offers physicians, residents, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, medical students, and other health professionals a safe and controlled environment in which to practice clinical skills without risk of patient harm through simulation training. As the training center was nearly two decades old, the need for expansion and modernization became evident as did the growing demand for hands-on clinical training to reflect today’s hospital environment and medical advancements. “As a top-ranked teaching hospital, medical education and training are top priorities for us,” said Trish O’Keefe, PhD, RN, President, Morristown Medical Center. “Thanks to the incredible commitment and generosity of the Gagnon Family Foundation and all of our donors, we are able to offer our clinicians the most advanced training and simulation technology, as they continue to provide extraordinary care to our community not only today, but well into the future.”
The GBTI offers cutting-edge simulators to hone surgical precision and techniques for laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, and patient simulators and manikins that create immersive, realistic clinical scenarios to practice essential skills. In 2023, the Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center’s (WAMMC) 20th Mansion in May Designer Showhouse and Gardens raised $1.65 million to benefit the expansion of the Gagnon Institute of Bioskills Training and Innovation. Generous support comes from the Gagnon Family Foundation, the late Gar-Wood N. Burwell, Dick and Cathy Herbst and the Spohler Foundation. Comments are closed.
