Morristown, NJ: For more than 30 years, the Market Street Mission has been distributing free winter coats, hats, gloves, and scarves to neighbors in need in the Morristown community – and it’s almost time for this year’s event to help keep our neighbors warm! On Saturday, November 1st, the Market Street Mission will be hosting our annual Coat Giveaway from 10am-1pm on the Morristown Green. Men’s, women’s, and children’s sizes will be available, and anyone in need of a winter coat and accessories is welcome to attend. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held at the Mission at 9 Market Street in Morristown. “It’s important for everyone to have a warm winter coat in this New Jersey winter weather,” says Debbie McKenna, Market Street Mission’s Volunteer and Events Manager. “Our team of volunteers looks forward to caring for our guests, helping each person choose the coat that’s right for them. This event is a great way to connect with and care for our community, year after year.”
Each year, the Mission is able to give away thousands of coats, hats, gloves, and scarves at our Mission locations throughout New Jersey, thanks to the generosity of local individuals, businesses, and churches who host collections to donate new and gently used winter items. We also depend on the help of an incredible team of volunteers to keep the event running smoothly. Volunteers help set up the coats and accessories, and also assist our community guests in finding the coats they need. Bilingual (English and Spanish) volunteers are especially needed! If you are interested in volunteering at our Morristown event on November 1st, please email Debbie McKenna at [email protected]. We will also be hosting Coat Giveaways at our Market Street Mission – Jersey Shore location (701 Memorial Drive in Asbury Park) and our Market Street Mission – Good Shepherd location (336 Broadway in Paterson), both on Saturday, November 15th. For more information on our Coat Giveaway events, please visit our website at https://www.marketstreet.org/events/. Thank you for helping us keep our community warm this winter!
