The BET Foundation offers opportunities for students to learn from, and interact with business people through programs such as Understanding American Business.
About Understanding American Business:
Understanding American Business (UAB) is one of the many annual programs offered by The Business & Education Together Foundation. It is designed to provide a three-day comprehensive conference at which junior and senior high school students will learn about the “real world” of business.
Students receive information on team building, business/financial planning, marketing, legal issues, human resources and customer service from business professionals. The students are grouped into teams responsible for developing a new product or service related to an annual theme.
The teams are charged with developing their product from beginning to end by applying the knowledge and skills gained in the workshops. They present to a panel of distinguished community business leaders who serve as judges of their work. Student presentations are judged on the basis of the product, strategy, financial solvency, teamwork and use of the UAB program contents.
