Young Professionals

Chair: Brad Mehl, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney

Mission: To create an environment within which young professionals can foster professional and personal growth through formal initiatives, events, and projects which provide forums for:

  • Relationship Building
  • Educational and Professional Development, and
  • Contributing to and Enriching the Community.

The Young Professionals Committee (YPC) operates under an annual strategic plan supporting the purpose/mission of the committee.

Sub-committees of the YPC carry out the committee's strategic plan and are the ultimate contributors to the success of the YPC through the following sub-committee activities and highlights:

  • Networking Events
Chaired by Steven Tirpak of NetWorth Management Group.

This sub-committee creates and plans networking events which are open to all Chamber members. The events are geared toward those looking to build business relationships. They incorporate a brief guest presenter on current topic as well as creative methods for encouraging interaction among attendees.

  • Executive Roundtables
Chaired by James McDonnell of Jackson Lewis LLP

This sub-committee is responsible for booking executives to speak to the YPC members in a small breakfast roundtable setting on a relevant business/career topic. The roundtable sessions are educational and mentoring in nature for the purpose of personal and professional growth; the events are targeted at 4-6 times per year. Those charged with the task of sourcing these executives as well as the committee members who attend the roundtables, are provided a great opportunity to get connected to high level professionals in the community. [YPC members must be on the committee at least 2 months to participate.]

  • Group Volunteer Activities
Chaired by Yemi Cole of Ilex Services, LLC.

One of the charters of the YPC is to give back to the community. This sub-committee researches Morris County agencies in need of volunteer services for which the YPC can plan an annual outing to volunteer as a group. In addition, the group develops ideas for independent service projects which previously have included a diaper drive and coat drive.

Through their contributions to the success fo the committee, YPC members build relationships with other chamber members which often lead to greater awareness of one's business/organization and greater opportunities for conducting business.

In addition to sub-committee planning meetings, the committee on the whole meets monthly for a variety of purposes, including: to host guest speakers on relevant topics; to share updates on sub-committee plans and progress; and to allow committee members to share news within their profession/organization.

Committee membership is open to all but is geared to the needs of young professionals age 21-39. See below for a list of committee members:
