Chair: Angela Kubisky, Assistant Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Garden Savings Federal Credit Union

Purpose: Women Organized to Mentor,
E
ducate and Network. Women in Business is a dynamic network dedicated to further the advancement of women and empower them in their professional and personal lives.

The Women in Business Steering Committee meets monthly to plan topics, speakers, and structure to organize first class event that attract a diversified group of women. Each program draws 125-400 attendees. Our committee, appointed by the President, meets on the second Wednesday of every month.

To plan and host successful events, the steering committee begins by electing a Sub-Committee Chair from our Steering Committee. The Sub Committee Chair creates a committee (open to any chamber member) of volunteers who are interested in getting involved in our mission and would like to make a contribution. When you participate on this level you are opening doors to build relationships with other chamber members which can ultimately help your business grow.

Enhancing Leadership Competency with a “Mentoring Program”
In 2006, the Steering Committee created a mentoring program for “Women Re-Entering the Workforce”. Women, who volunteer on the steering committee as well as other chamber members, donate their time to work with mentee’s on various issues including: building confidence, interviewing skills, resume writing, dressing for the workplace and more. More than a two dozen women have been part of the mentoring program and, as a result, many have successfully transitioned back into the workplace.
