To inform the members on the public policies relating to Healthcare.
To obtain measurable and improved outcomes of Healthy Lifestyles for Employers and Employees
The Health & Wellness Committee operates under an annual strategic plan supporting the purpose/mission of the committee.
Sub-committees of the Health & Wellness Committee carry out the committee's strategic plan and are the ultimate contributors to the success of the Committee through the following sub-committee activities and highlights:
Healthy Lifestyles
Led by Laura Hingle
The Healthy Lifestyles Committee is charged with promoting education on living a healthy lifestyle and encouraging members and their employees to exercise and acheive greater health. Chamber members and their family members joined together to run/walk the St. Patty's 5K on March 13th. Future events will be posted shortly.
Health & Wellness Communication/Website:
Led by Paul Boudreau, President, Morris County Chamber of Commerce
This communication committee has completed the creation of the Health & Wellness committee page where members can find information to healthy living information and Chamber sponsored health and wellness events and activities. Future plans are to expand HealthyMorris.org to a health and wellness web resource for all Chamber members and employees of Morris County businesses.
Preventative / Screening:
Led by Robert Goldsmith, Executive Director, Corporate Health, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation
Following the strategic plan to promote general awareness of and to highlight screening services in Morris County by the three "primary providers" utilizing printed and electronic communication channels to maximize the audience, the team has just launched the Preventative Screenings directory under the name HealthyMorris.org. The directory includes available screenings from Morristown Memorial Hospital, Chilton Memorial Hospital and St. Clare’s Hospital at little or no cost. The information will be updated monthly.
The Health and Wellness Committee is proud to announce their 2010 – 2011 Speaker seminar series called “Choose to be Well!!” This six part series is designed to help businesses and their employees maintain a healthy lifestyle while meeting the challenges of balancing professional and personal commitments.
The lectures will take place in the Chamber Offices located in Florham Park, NJ at 325 Columbia Turnpike, Suite 101. Each lecture will begin at 8:00 AM with continental breakfast and networking.
