Morris Business Cabinet

MCCC Business CabinetThe Business Cabinet is a forum for senior executives who have significant corporate assets and employees in Morris County. Cabinet members will develop valuable relationships with their peers and have the opportunity to discuss shared challenges in making their businesses successful. The Morris Business Cabinet will provide executive leadership from the private sector to drive a more effective Chamber agenda in four major areas - influencing  public policy, promoting business best practices, developing a stronger workforce and providing advocacy and  support for economic development on behalf of the entire business community in Morris County.  The specific charter includes:

  1. Defining opportunities to speak as one voice to influence public policy at the federal, state and local levels of government. The Cabinet will select the most important issues that impact their business interests and the larger interests of the Morris County business community.   Cabinet members and Chamber staff will develop a specific outreach program to engage key decision makers through visits to Trenton and opportunities for private meetings in Morris County.
  2. The Cabinet will meet three to four times annually. The agenda will include a key elected official or senior corporate officer.  Strategic business topics will be on the agenda and will provide opportunity for sharing of best practices across the group.
  3. The caliber and availability of our workforce can be a differentiator when businesses make location decisions. The status of the Cabinet members in the greater business community provides an opportunity for them and the Chamber to weigh in not only with the educational community but also with various levels of government to ensure the effectiveness of employee training and development programs.
  4. States and localities are vying to bring investment and jobs to their geographies. The Business Cabinet, through a stronger relationship with Economic Development Authority and Morris County Economic Development Corporation can influence location decisions being made by major companies. Cabinet members know the community and the workforce and they can be effective advocates for business growth in Morris County.
